A noble man gentle and steady in charitable deeds, (Then muncipal chairman of Thrissur) Mr. Lonappan S/o Palu Chackola donated the property to the bishop to start an institute for the poor. Rev.Fr. Antony Akkara was the one who undertook the task of building a structure for the poor. 1947 Oct 3 was a remarkable day in the history of Christ villa poor homes. Bp. Rev.Dr. George Allappattu blessed the Christ villa poor homes. This institute situated 5 k. m north east of Trichur town.Initially, the help of broadminded people was the only strong foundation. We began our ministry with 10 inmates and this institution has given shelter to thousands of destitutes irrespective of caste, creed and colour. Thrissur Catholic Archbishop is our patron, the Board of trustees consists of ‘7’ members, including the director appointed by the Archbishop constitute the Christ villa poorhomes. Rev. sisters from Carmelite Religious congregation (CMC) give voluntary Leadership and service to the day to day affairs of poor homes.
